First time renting E bikes as LOCALS and wow!!! We paid $50 to have two bikes dropped off at the house to test them out for the day with friends who already bought some... we literally rode them ALL day! My husband is tall and we rented one with phat tires and it held him comfortably and had a ton of power! The guy at the shop we spoke to was so helpful and the guy who delivered the bikes was awesome showing us how to use them and they even came back to pick the bikes up. Worth every single dollar only wish we did this sooner. We already called family and friends and are getting everyone to do it asap - what an amazing day and an amazing experience. This place has the best selection of bikes to chose from and total VIP service! The bikes were in PERFECT condition and they even come with a saddle bag on back to throw your gear in! Book it! Sooner than later!!!!

Best day ever. I no longer want to rent a car; I only want to travel around Dana point and San Juan Capistrano and laguna Niguel by e-bike. If you're looking to rent, synaptic cycles is the PERFECT place: reasonable (just pay for the all-day; it's so much fun and there are so many ways to explore the area). It's also well-located (perfectly actually because there is lots of room to practice riding before taking off for the day if you've never ridden an e-bike before). And the owners are friendly and extremely responsive.

During our trip from Chicago to California, we had planned to rent bicycles and take in the views. Our friend here in California suggested renting electric bikes.
But we knew nothing about them.
Shaun @ Synaptic Cycle , was a phenomenal help. He sized the bikes to each one of us. Upon finding one bike was a little too tall for my wife, he replaced the post and seat so it would be a little bit shorter.
The bikes had a lot of power for some of these hard hills. The controls were easy to use. And the trip was a success.
We've not only recommend Synaptic Cycle rental. . . We're coming back!

Shawn, the owner, knows A LOT about bikes. Not only does he rent high end road and e-bikes but he is great at repairing them as well. My mom and I rode here to have our Murf looked at. He put it right up on the rack and had it fixed in less than 30 minutes. He did a great job and we were super impressed. This is where we will be bringing our bikes from now on for any service needs. We rented 2 electric bikes for an entire day last week and had an A+++ experience from start to finish. Super friendly and knowledgeable owner, the bikes were impeccably maintained and everything was explained until we felt comfortable going out and exploring. We rode almost the entire day (miles and miles of great trails/marked bike lanes) and had over half the battery left. Don't bother looking anywhere else - truly a company that takes pride in its product and customer service. Happy riding!

I can't recommend this service enough. This is my fourth rental!
My flight landed at 10a and by noon, Shawn was at my hotel with a beautiful bike that made the California hills climbable by this east-coaster.
Shawn responded to my texts immediately when I had questions about routes or gearing on the bike. Everything on the bike was in complete working order ... chain oiled and brakes in fabulous condition.
I rode about 150 miles in 5 days. Totally enjoyed the ride and then was able to leave the bike at the hotel when I checked out and Shawn picked it up later that day.

Great experience. It was $100 for two hours for two bikes. We rented bikes for two hours and it was very fun. The service was good. I rented an electric bike and it was a super fun way to see the beach. The electric bike made going a long distance much easier. Would recommend

Synaptic Cycles rose to the top when I started my search for the perfect E-Bikes. My wife and I landed on a few brands and wanted to test drive them. I made a reservation with Synaptic Cycles to rent a couple of bikes and ultimately decided it would be best to hold off. I called the store and spoke to Shawn, the owner. Right off the bat, he was fantastic in fielding all my questions and suggested canceling the bike rental and instead suggested that we come down to see what he had on hand.
Mind you, we live in the San Fernando Valley but were so compelled by Shawn's professionalism and knowledge we decided to make the trek. It was 100% worth it. He walked us through various options and consulted us on the right bike. We ended up buying 2x Electric Bike Company Model E's.
The exceptional customer service didn't end there. After taking delivery, I damaged the custom paint job on my wife's bike. I reached out to Shawn, and he worked his magic. EBC repaired the bike within a week, all thanks to Shawn.
I highly recommend supporting Shawn and Synaptic Cycles by renting or buying your e-bikes from them. You won't regret it.

Shawn, the owner, was extremely helpful and made sure we were setup to have a great experience - he is knowledgeable, professional and down to earth. The location is perfect! We had an awesome time renting an E-Bike and riding from Dana Point to San Clemente. Had a nice lunch in Delmar area and then head back. We made a day out of it and it was pretty fun with beautiful sceneries.
The Rental shop was clean and their bikes were fairly new. Customer service was excellent and with filling out a short form and a payment we were on our way. All day E-Bike rentals are pricy but totally worth the experience. We will be back again. Thank You

Shawn was really pleasant and knowledgeable. (I'm in the market to buy an e-bike and had bike route questions).
I witnessed his admirable business ethic as well- a customer finished a ride and lost a bolt to their clear while Shawn was building his bike. He graciously took his cleat, provided a bolt, and tightened the other free of charge.
LOCATION:
There's so many great eats around this place but what is worth the trip are the coastal views! I recommend heading down Santa Clara to Heritage Park and start at the Ocean Institute, Baby Beach, the marina, Doheny, Capo, and ending in San Clemente.

I gave this store a 5 for several reasons.
Staff was helpful and wanted to make sure we had a good ride.
Bikes were charged the entire 2 hours battery didn't die. (An issue we had on another bike rental at a whole different vendor)
Bikes were in good condition, breaks worked, lots of speed around 20 mph.
Dana Point is a hidden gem if you're looking for an awesome bike route. We drove the 2 full hours from Dana Point to San Clemente all along ocean coast line. The bike lane has a concrete wall which divides the bike lane from car traffic so it feels safe along the busy pacific coast highway!
Ocean breeze blowing through your hair on a sunny beach day doesn't get better than this....
I go bike riding all over California.
This is so far my favorite bike route as it's a gorgeous ride, not as crowded as San Diego, LA or Venice Beach. Add this bike rental store and bike route to your bucket list.

"This bike shop was very nice looking and had very friendly and helpful staff. There was a huge variety of bikes. They ranged from normal bikes that you could cruise around with to mountain bikes and e-bikes. We were welcomed by a friendly and energetic dog that instantly adored us. The dog is extremely sweet and is very intelligent for only being 7 months old! The staff even cut an inch off the seat for my bike to make it easier to sit on. We were overall very impressed with this shop's helpfulness. We will definitely return to rent or buy some bikes.

Bikes were well kept and prices are pretty reasonable. Biggest tip I would tell others is be aware that you must drive on the bike lane on the highway for a few before you might find a bike path. Wish it was closer to the beach bike paths or at least better directions from staff on how to find them.

This place is fabulous if you want to rent eBikes! We found them via a Google search and they were great - amazing customer service, knowledgeable, friendly and professional. Nic picked out bikes for my grown kids and me (my kids went with the medium width tires and I got the big fat tires!), showed us how to use the bikes, and gave us an idea of where to go, including a map!
We rode to San Clemente, had lunch at a cute pizza place, then rode back. We met Shawn, the owner of Synaptic Cycle, after the ride, and he is a pleasure.
The whole experience broke the fun meter - thank you Synaptic Cycle!
By the way-I recommend wearing helmets - they come with the rental price and it's best to be safe than sorry (my mom pitch).

These guys saved me on a Sunday late afternoon when I had a flat and all other bike shops were closed. I had already tried my spare tube and it pinched so was about to walk down the hill as Uber with a bike is tricky but fortunately got a recommendation from a local hardware store to find this place. So glad I did. Not only were they open but they welcomed this tired biker and performed my repair of the repair I tried (pinched tube). They also sold me a replacement tube and CO2 cartridge so I could feel confident on the ride home. Looks like a great shop with a ton of modern rentals. Can't thank these guys enough. My sons e-bike stopped working. I contacted the dealer and they suggested this shop. I called up on 12/31 and they answered. I took the bike down and they said it would take a week to two weeks depending on any parts that needed to be ordered. About 5 days later they called with a touch base and gave an update. I picked the bike up today and my son is jazzed to have it back. There are two guys that work there and a cool shop dog. Good service and without any issues.
